Did you know that distraction can lead to unhappiness? Here’s a few tips collected from the editors here. These are fairly obvious, but a good list as a daily touchstone.
Live in the moment. It cuts out worry.
Transform your mind. Meditate on compassion and kindness. Think happy.
Give. Volunteer. Pay for the person behind you at the coffee shop.
Use your imagination.
Exercising your imagination muscle will generate creative ideas, motivate you, and make you happier if you use it well. Happiness is a perspective, and using your imagination is an effective way to alter your perspective.
Buy experiences. Stop buying material possessions. Get those concert tickets instead of those shoes.
Throw your negative thoughts away. If you have common negative thoughts, write them down on a piece of paper, and physically throw them away, or burn them. This strategy can be employed as a quick way to clear your head of negativity.
