Ask The Bohemian: Barcelona Wine Bar

Here’s a review of Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant in DC.

How it made me happy:
It was a very cold night mid-march and the restaurant was bustling and welcoming. Ten of us gathered to celebrate a dear friends birthday. The rustic design was inspiring and it took me back to the days of living in Spain. It’s a great space to relax and remember past travels.

The sommelier made recommendations on cava, red wine, and scotch that flowed all evening. The dishes: calamari, hangar steak, potato tortilla, roasted asparagus, chicken liver mousse, and the squid. I think we tried everything and everything was good. This is what I recall as we talked, drank, and ate for hours.

Service, Tone, Atmosphere:
We had two waiters. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our server was great at explaining the menu, answering questions, and making suggestions. The feeling is low-key but warm. The restaurant is right on 14th Street. I look forward to heading there in the warm weather to experience the open patio.
